What is Seeds for Changes?

Seeds for Change is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering teens in our community through early education on food security and food safety. By providing hands-on learning and practical knowledge, Seeds for Change equips young people with the skills they need to understand where food comes from, how it is produced, and how to build a more resilient local food system.

Founded by Vera Howe, whose background in agriculture shaped her deep understanding of the food supply, the organization responds to the growing challenges facing our communities today. As Howe explains, “Growing up in agriculture has given me an understanding of how food is grown and harvested. Unfortunately, I also see how quickly our food supply is changing and shrinking. It’s important to act now and learn how to feed yourself and others in our community.”

Seeds for Change invites the next generation to get involved, take action, and help cultivate a healthier, more secure future, one seed at a time.
